Rembrandt Lighting
Rembrandt lighting is used to portray a subject in a natural or distinct way. It creates a triangle on one side of the face (the side that is partially in a shadow) while the other side is fully lit up. A lot of photographers will use this type of lighting on models for a creative and dramatic look. It is usually used on people with more round faces so that their face is enhanced and adds definition. The set up is very easy because there only needs to be a reflector and one or two lights to shine on the subject. At a basic level, there only needs to be one light source placed 45 degrees offset from the subject and should be placed a little higher than eye level and this simple technique can be achieved.
